Consider applying for the Teacher Exchange Visitor Program!
The International Exchange Certificate permits qualified educators from other countries to teach in Georgia schools on a time-limited basis for up to three years. To qualify, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Hold primary citizenship outside of the U.S.
- Be employed by a Georgia local unit of administration (LUA) while participating in an authorized Exchange Visitor Program
- Hold the J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa
- Hold the U.S. equivalent of a bachelor’s degree or higher
- Hold foreign educator credentials in a teaching field comparable to a certification field offered in Georgia
- Have passed the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE) Educator Ethics Assessment
- Be proficient in English

If you completed an educator preparation program in a U.S. territory or another country, you may qualify for a Georgia educator certificate. You may have to fulfill some Special Georgia Requirements before receiving your Georgia certificate or within a certain period of time after receiving your first certificate. To find out if you need additional requirements, submit a Georgia certification application package. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission will evaluate your documents and outline any outstanding requirements you may need to fulfill.
