Courtside Conversations: Teach in the Peach at Toyota Chris Paul HBCU Classic Education Day

Teach in the Peach brought energy and purpose to Education Day during the Toyota Chris Paul HBCU Classic—an event where basketball meets opportunity. Founded by NBA star Chris Paul, the tournament celebrates Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by showcasing their rich history, academic excellence, and cultural impact, while creating spaces for students to explore career paths beyond the game.

Education Day brought together high school and college students eager to explore their futures. A representative from Teach in the Peach engaged with students about their career aspirations and introduced them to the rewarding opportunities within education. Many were surprised to learn how teaching can align with their passions – whether in STEM, the arts, or leadership – and how educators play a vital role in shaping the next generation.

The atmosphere was electric, blending the excitement of the tournament with meaningful conversations about purpose and possibility. Events like these remind us that recruiting future educators starts with planting seeds early and Teach in the Peach is committed to being part of that journey.
